By Invitation Only

For the REACH opening festival, the Smithsonian Asian Pacific Amerian Center has curated three workshop performances that aim to “Reframe, Reimagine and Reclaim” narratives around migration, gender, double-consciousness, agency and imagination. “Reframe: Creativity on the Run” will showcase refugee artists and explore creativity as the natural reaction to displacement and loss. In “Reimagine: Queer Futurisms,” each performer will offer their take on queer futures, imagining possibility at the intersections of culture and time, while declaring truths born out of the lasting legacies of colonization and present-day empires. “Reclaim: The Good Fun Muslim Friends Club” is a social performance in the form of a variety show that explores the unapologetic self and agency as responses to harsh sociopolitical realities.

1JourneyFestival, a Social Practice Resident of the Kennedy Center, will join in the space.
