As we age, our balance sometimes feels compromised and the ability to multi-task can become a challenge. How can we safely move in this busy world with confidence and purpose? IMPROVment® is a unique movement class that challenges participants to spontaneously create movement based on cues or prompts that come from visual images, rhythmic sensibility, breath, and music. This fun and inclusive class will encourage problem-solving tactics through movement in fun and effective ways. In this workshop, we will nurture a strong community environment where each person's expressive and spontaneous movement contributions are valued and celebrated. We will share fall and recovery techniques in safe ways, promote physical and cognitive decision making, and bring spontaneity back to our lives in meaningful ways. No previous dance experience is necessary. Participants with movement challenges are encouraged to take this class.
This event is invitation only, in coordination with the community partners through the Kennedy Center's School and Community Partnerships department. A public version of this workshop is offered Tue., Sep. 17 at 5 p.m.
