About Raediant Movement's Founder and Artistic Director: Born and raised in West Philadelphia Erica Rae Smith, is a Graduate of University of the Arts (Philadelphia, PA) trained in Ballet, Modern, Jazz, Latin, Caribbean and African dance techniques. After graduation, Erica Rae had the opportunity to work with professional dance companies such as New LeJa Dances, Mahogany Dance Theatre, Tania Isaac Dance, Lesole’s Dance Project, Connecting Vibes USA& UK and VB Dance Ensemble. Erica Rae has had the opportunity to present her choreography locally around the DC Metro area and internationally as a part of Connecting Vibes Grenada Tour in St. George’, Grenada. In 2017 Erica, Co-presented the DC metro areas first Dancehall Dance focused weekend and the areas first Dancehall Dance Competition, Champion DMV Dancehall Battle, which included instructors and dancers from Jamaica as well as the local Dancehall community. In 2018 Erica was awarded as one of the John F. Kennedy Canter Local Dance Commissioning Project recipients, where she premiered her first evening length work” Out of Many: I Dare You to Find Your Connection”. As she continues to grow in dance, Erica’s goal is to continue to bring the joy that dance gives her to others in the form of education and performance through her growing company Raediant Movement.
Raediant Movement's Mission is to advocate for the inclusion of Caribbean dance techniques, styles and traditions into dance training and classes for new and experienced dancers in the United States and abroad.
